I live in Southern California. You know, the land of palm trees, 360 days of sunshine and beaches? Harrrrumph.
It’s 65 degrees out, very gray and even drizzled today. Ok, maybe
not drizzle but certainly a mist heavy enough to justify turning on the
windshield wipers as I drove. Maybe it’s the humidity that makes me
want to have a fire going in the hearth?
Even though it’s nigh impossible to find the edge of the clouds
overhead, there is a lovely silver lining. So very lovely. Knitting!
Hah!
Seriously, when it’s cold it’s so much easier to work on things that are snuggly. And here are some future snuggly things. The top two are representative skeins of yarn, Knitpicks Decadence in Tan and Chocolate. I got them for a song, people. I had mentioned to hubby that I wanted to make him a sweater and he had picked out a pattern that called for bulky yarn. Try to find bulky yarn that isn’t wool and that’s light enough to actually be comfortable (cotton=heavy) and doesn’t cost a few appendages. While the current price is pretty high still when you consider I needed to buy 13 skeins, the sale price was remarkably less. All that and 100% baby alpaca yarn.
The Cotton Fleece on the bottom actually does have some wool in it, but I can’t tell. Maybe it’s Merino? I hear tell that those with sensitivity to wool do fine with Merino. So, that lovely bunch of 5 balls in Candy Apple color are were also purchased for yet another song at the annual Webs yarn sale. While the sale is still going on, the list of yarns at anniversary sale price is getting much shorter (no, Cotton Fleece isn’t on it or I’d be tempted to get more). This is the yarn that will take up my next big project, the slanted neck pullover. To be honest, I’ve wanted a sweater like this ever since I saw Curious George.
So I will finish my camisole as soon as I can get myself the proper sized crochet hook and I’ll take pics and then get to work on a couple of sweaters. That way, I’ll be covered! Camisole for sun, sweater for weather like we’re having today.
