Shows Revisited
So they're releasing a new Speed Racer soon. They made a new version of Transformers for the big screen and an animated series for TV (sorry, but Sari annoys me for her whining). Dr. Who has made a comeback as well, joining Battlestar Gallactica in the ranks of scifi shows with a new generation of cast and crew.
My short list of shows that I'd love to see again with new and improved episodes:
Daimos - it was shown in the Philippines in the 80s and was a Japanese import but dubbed in English (I'm pretty sure it was shown in some South American countries, too). I loved this show way more than Voltes V even though I can't remember the theme song for it. It was ridiculously romantic and I wanted to have my hair cut like Erica's and have wings hidden under long, black hair, too. And how cool would it be to have a robot connected to you, mimicking your movements? Not unlike today's Apache gunships.
Firefly - Browncoats unite! You know what I'm talking about. One movie doesn't cut it. More episodes, please!
Candy Candy - anime love story also shown in the Philippines in the 80s. Candy Candy is still alive and well if you speak and read Spanish and can find the fanfics and online clubs dedicated to the show. Pero yo no hablar en Espanol. I know someone who was a pretty big fixture in the fanfics groups for the show until we got her to play WoW and took her away from the Terry vs. Albert wars.
Logan's Run - honestly, I have no memories of this show except for what I think was the intro: Michael York's character and two others in white leisure suits (track suits? jump suits?) running through a hallway. But for some reason, I get warm fuzzies about this show.
Strange Luck - the show had all of 17 episodes and no one we knew watched it (just hubby and I). Since it came along around the height of the popularity of XFiles, no one really took notice. But the concept had so much potential! Chance was a photographer who had weird things happen to him. It was a dark humor sort of show, not unlike the feel of some of the episodes of Twin Peaks.
Your list? Or is the past best left in, well, the past?
Comments
Was it Wash who was the pilot?
Simon was very cute. And I love Kaylee. Hehehe. Her full name is a mouthful!
I also loooove Daimos. I used to role play with my sister. I'd put on a baby napkin (You know the ones we used way back when here in the Philippines? the cloth type?) to cover my hair and make it seem like it was longer (of course the white color of the napkin ruined the effect, but I was a kid and didn't care). I would play Erica and I'd feel like I was flying when I jumped off the top of the bunk bed. I got a DVD of Daimos and Voltron. I find myself laughing because the dialogue is now corny, but I still keep watching it because it reminds me so much of how I enjoyed tuning in to the show. It was bonding time with my sibs.
I didn't like Voltes V so much because there wasn't a romantic angle to it.
I like Voltron, though. I used to imagine Princess Allura and Keith getting together! lol Edmond told me that they're releasing a movie of Voltron this year. I wonder how that'll be like? I hope they don't twist the story too much. I didn't like Transformers because of the story (even though everything else was great).
Ohmygoodness, I LOVE CANDY CANDY!!! Didn't Anthony die of something, though?
/me sings "She's a girl, pretty girl with ribbons on her hair. She's a girl with lots and lots and lots of blah blah" I forget the rest.
I've been waiting for Speed Racer to get shown here.
And there's also that vampire book by Stephenie Meyer. They're releasing a show this December. Waiting for that, too. But I'm not too happy with who they casted (except for Kristen Stewart and the guys who play Jasper and Emmett).
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer goooo!
That's the part of the song I know. J asked me to sing it over and over again yesterday and it got boring.
I watched Voltron with the boys and I forgot how cheesy it looked! Or maybe I never knew? I liked Voltes V because one of the team was a girl and she wore pink :)
Susan, I bet your DH and I would have similar Netflix queues.
i always got daimos and voltes V confused as a kid :-P but, yeah, i also liked daimos better. and omgoodness i just adored candy candy.
