Ersatz-Suede Capelet

So, following the pattern for Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet posted on Craftster,  I made this version knit side out instead of purl side out using Lion Brand Suede yarn. Obviously, the one on the left shows the color better, but for all the incandescent lighting, you still get an idea of how it looks when worn in the right photo. I also traded the ribbing in for seed stitch.

This is a surprise present for our neighbor's daughter who is turning 16. I happened to have the yarn and needed to give it purpose. I've seen her wear this color, so I hope she will like it. I may get a pin to match but I haven't found one so far. The nice thing is that I have a couple more balls of the same yarn left. I may trade them in for another color and make one for me (heehee) or someone I deem deserving in between the other projects. It only took a couple of hours to do this so it's a nice weekend or last-minute project.
